How To Lose Friends & Still Influence People

Day 4

Kathryn Williams Episode 1

This is the introductory episode to covering the next four years of the presidency of Donald J. Trump among other breaking news.

On Monday, January 20th, 2025 Donald J. Trump took office. He states he is going to usher in a golden age for America. We've had one once in America. It was called the Gilded Age and it was not a good time for the average person. The top one percent had more wealth than the rest of the ninety-nine percent combined.

The Labor Unions and laws that we have today started because of that period of American History. The only President in United States history that had a gap year, I mean gap term was President Cleveland and he served right in the middle of it. Sadly, he was a Democrat and really shouldn't have been elected the second term. The Dawes Act that devastated the Native American culture that is felt still today was enacted under his administration. I digress.

The Presidency since FDR has been measured by the first 100 days. I am measuring it by every day. Trump challenged in his campaign, "Are you better now than you were 4 years ago?"

I am obviously liberal but traditionally I have never been so liberal that I am blinded. I will be the first to admit that I preferred Biden over Trump but I felt that Biden should never have attempted to run for a second term. I did not like Kamala Harris when she ran the first time. I warmed to her for this second time but she would not have been my first pick. Biden made some major mistakes that unfortunately allowed for this.

I am going to do this podcast because while I fit most of the boxes I do not fit all of them and many Americans now are vulnerable for who they are. The entire LGBTQ+ community has a reason to be afraid. Immigrants whether you are here legally or undocumented definitely need to be afraid. Minorities need to be afraid.

I personally felt that his first four years in office was a good review of what he would be like if he ever got elected and that it would be worse because he has nobody left to tell him, "Mr. President you can't just do that. That is a bad idea!" His word is not to be trusted as he proved repeatedly in his first term.

So this is a recap of what Trump has done and hasn't done thus far.

He repeatedly said, "I can end the war in Ukraine in the first 24 hours. Maybe even before."

He hasn't.

Grocery prices are still high. Eggs is over $5 a dozen.

So this is the top worst things Trump has done since taking office and it's not even been a full week.

  1. Trump has exited The United States from the Paris Agreement for climate change.
  2. The Initial Rescission of Harmful Executive Orders And Actions was a top executive action that Trump revoked. Many of the orders dealt with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  3. On Wednesday federal employees that had DEI roles were placed on leave.
  4. Trump has rescinded a 1965 order prohibiting discrimination in hiring by federal contractors.
  5. Under this new administration per executive order defining woman and men by what is listed on their birth certificates. It calls for spaces like bathrooms to be designated by sex and not identity. It calls for roll backs on guidance that was issued by Biden Administration that gave guidance to Title 9.
  6. He has put an executive order that will allow troops to be deployed to the southern border. If you from South America and want to cross into the United States illegally, please, please don't do it. It isn't like times past where you can cross and maybe get deported to cross again. Sooner or later you will run into someone who has wrong ideals beat into their head about illegals with an itchy trigger finger. The people that are here that are undocumented are afraid. You should be to. You can now be rounded up in places like schools and churches. In his first administration he had no problems for a time separating children from their parents. Do not risk this.
  7. Going in hand with this plea, he is calling immigrants coming to the United States undocumented as an invasion and which has introduced policies to restrict federal funds to areas that are viewed as sanctuaries and funding detention centers.
  8. The United States has now exited out of the World Health Organization. He blamed them on how Covid got handled. Let's hope in the next four years we don't end up with another once in a generation pandemic under his leadership.

Now for the most ridiculous thing.

We no longer of the Gulf of Mexico. It is now called the Gulf of America. One notes that Google Maps has not updated this change.
